Gypsy’s Retreat.

Let me back up a bit. Sixteen years ago, we brought home a little, wrinkled, fawn colored Puggle puppy and named her Gypsy. Little did we know how appropriate the name would become as she rode with us throughout the United States, to Alaska, throughout Mexico and down through central America. Everyone that met her fell in love with her. As age caught up with her that final day came a couple months ago. She had always loved this area, so we thought it fitting to name this house after her.

After CoVID was released from a small research facility in Wuhan, China, the world seemed to come to a lasting economic and social shutdown. We got stuck in the middle of it on our motorcycle in Portugal, along with many travelers around the globe. Feeling like this wasn’t going away soon we were lucky enough to get back to the US, I think. We arrived back on US soil to deserted airports and no toilet paper, (really??…fools). As we live in our camper, it became difficult to find a place to camp as most campgrounds were closed or not allowing new campers. Add to that the political divide this country is facing and the uncertainty of the future…

We have owned property for years in southeastern Alabama. It has many requirements that we wanted as a place to live, (covered two post ago). Having saved some money for that eventual day we would build a base, it seemed now was as good a time as ever.

Well, the cabin is going up. We will do as much of the work ourselves as we feel we can do. I will be posting pictures as the construction takes place. in between, exploring, riding and meeting up with friends.

Hopefully, this November the election will happen, and America will come together. But I doubt it. It seems internal violence in America is inevitable, no matter the election outcome. It looks like family and friends will continue to fight. Civil War II???

We will make our reservations to hopefully return to the Yellow Donkey in Portugal and continue our trip. Who knows?

Cheers,
