Anticipation! It’s killing me!

Needless to say we are itchy staying in one place.  I love our new house in Alabama, but we feel all alone here.  Our kids are busy and too far away for a weekend trip.  And our friends, you know who you are, are scattered across the globe.  Talk has been to sell the house and continue our journeys, homeless.  We will see…

So now we are packed, ready and waiting.  Waiting for my appointment with my cardiologist whom will give me a clean bill of health.  So, let’s get this show on the road.
Newfoundland is waiting.

After a quick stop to see Dallas and family in Chattanooga we set our sights on Kentucky.  Finding an inexpensive Corp of Engineers campground we set up camp at a remote and quiet location.  The next morning, after a two hour ride to find a good road we heard a loud clunk.  Both of us shouted, “what was that?”. I pulled over immediately and couldn’t find the source.  Everything looked fine.  Getting on the bike, it became apparent that all was not good with a loud squeal and the feeling the back tire was coming off.  Well, the day was hot and humid, and it wasn’t raining.  Pulling over again I saw the rear wheel bearing had split in two.  We were finished for the day.

We had just rode through a town that had a Suzuki motorcycle repair shop.  Of course, as with older bikes, the part wasn’t available for a couple days, and it was a Saturday.  The parts were ordered and bike delivered to the shop.

Then, WE WERE RESCUED, or kidnapped.  Depends who you ask.  Lori Payne to the rescue.  We so happened to be on our way to Lori’s farm in Ohio.  I let her know the bad news and she said, “I’m coming to get you”. And that is a 4 hour and 30 minute drive, one-way.  Of course I said no, and she called me stubborn. LoL

Well, we met Buddy, met new Bella, met the ducks, and Steve and Howard and collected eggs, met the chickens and cleaned and washed eggs.  We learned about freeze drying and cookies.  Best of all, we got to spend five great days visiting with Lori.  If you don’t know her, she is an avid motorcyclist and currently is presiof the GS Giants.  Thanks Lori for unselfishly collecting two stranded travelers and being a most gracious host.

Great seeing you, Farmer (GS) Lori

Finally the bike was finished, so we collected it and headed to New York for some quality time with family.  While there we were able to attend the finish of the Iron Man competition in Lake Placid.  These athletes are super inspiring to say the least.  The winning time was about 8 hours and the last to finish crossed the line at 18 hours. Respect!!!

Fun with the Saranac Lake family

Okay, on to Canada, a street party in St John’s and Horizon’s Unlimited.

Cheers,
