It’s been a bit since my last post from Indonesia. I got behind on the first blog crossing Turkey and then was just busy traveling. We spent 4 months riding into the Caucuses and back across Europe. Sometimes you just like going for the sake of going.

Quite a bit has happened since then. I will catch up on what is going on now, then do some post to catch up on the rest of our trip across Asia in Europe this past summer.

We’ve just finished a great weekend of Thanksgiving with my oldest son Rick and his family at Gypsies Retreat. They drove up from Florida for a few days and we ate, drank, played cards and had a great time. One of the days we made it down to the thirsty pig and then stopped at Keel distillery in Headland. They had a great band there for the night. It was really good southern country rock.

We got back from Portugal in September and have been doing some work on the house and getting some doctor’s appointments taking care of. Melanie had us scare with some atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response. That got her a trip to the emergency room with a night in the hospital. She ended up converting back to a normal rhythm with medication, but that has postponed are trip through South America this year. We have some more tests to run through the beginning of January. Hopefully we’ll be able to fly down to Colombia after that is finished and explore some more of that wonderful country in Ecuador. The trip down through Argentina will have to wait for next year.

When we got back to the country we took a weekend to go camping with friends up in Tennessee. It was a good time riding and visiting with friends we hadn’t seen in a bit.

On the way back we stopped and Chattanooga to visit with my youngest son Dallas and his family for a couple days and Halloween.

Dallas, Caleb and Jess

We found out with a quick ride down to the Gulf of Mexico and stay in a wonderful campground there,. This campground was destroyed during hurricane Michael five years ago. Roads were gone and the island had been cut in half from erosion. It has just reopened again with roads rebuilt and beautiful campsites that you can walk right to the beach from.

That’s it for right now. The next few blogs will just be an attempt to catch up from or lost months of motorcycle travel.

Cheers,
