Home.
We all have a different idea of where that is. It could be where you grew up. Or maybe in a tent in a remote location on the other side of the world after riding a dusty track all day long. Or maybe one of the many other places in between.
As the almost post-pandemic world slowly opens up, and the masks get stowed away, many of us are reevaluating where home really is. Many have interrupted a life because of the CoVID, started something new, and now are trying to figure out, with a good guess, where will home be now.
We got stuck in Portugal on the way to Morocco, left our bike and flew home, and build a house. A nest. A retreat. It was not on the immediate agenda. The plans to ride east across central Asia are on the on the back burner for now. We got jabbed with hopes that it will open up travel to us. Our house construction is coming along, a never ending project that will last into the future. Does this make it our home? It feels it, especially when we are there, alone, or with family and friends around.
What about you? Where is your “home” now? Are you in a small flat, a van, maybe with friends or family? Maybe you had a base and are just waiting for that green flag. So many are. We want to see our tribe face to face, share a hug and a pint, or a dram of your favorite Scotch. 😉
We still plan on traveling, even have one-way tickets purchased, tickets bought for The Event in a different country and even shipping plans for the bike to our fifth continent.
Our home will always be where we are, but the base, Gypsy’s Retreat, will be a great “home” to return to. All of the tribe are welcome. Bring a good story with you.
Cheers, peace and an open world,
