After double checking everything on the motorcycle Monday morning I headed to the battery place to pick up a battery. Not really sure if it needed one, but it’s good to have. One less worry since I didn’t know its history. Soon as the battery was in, we finished packing and headed out of Medellin to the north towards Santa Fe de Antioquia. Santa Fe is a national monument for its architecture with houses dating from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

Arriving into town, we found a beautiful square surrounded by historic buildings with the backdrop The Cathedral de Basilica from the 18th century. Opposite the church in the square was a beautiful fountain with water flowing over the edges and children playing in the square. Just across the street there was a sign for a hotel. An old doorway led into reception, which opened into a beautiful inner square they had a pool, two hot tubs and a view of the Andes mountains. It was the Hotel Caseron Del Parque. Perfect. And at $30 a night it was even better.

After riding my motorcycle through the gate and down below the hot tubs to the secure parking area, we checked into our room and jumped into the pool, as it was a warm afternoon. Around the square were multiple restaurants with sidewalk seating. There were also several entrances to intersquares surrounded by restaurants with outdoor seating. For dinner that night We chose a restaurant on an inner square with the walls of the cathedral as a backdrop.

As we got to the coast the temperatures soared from about 68°F (20° C) to, what felt like, 106°F (41° C). The first hotel we were looking for on the beach in Covenas ended up a dead end. It was along a beach road and at high tide the water had come all the way up to the seawall. We drove farther on and finally found one advertising a discotk (spelling as advertised), restaurant and bar on the beach for US$ 22. The Cabañas La Tranquera. We decided to stay a couple nights and enjoy the beach and the warm Caribbean waters before continuing up the coast to Cartagena to meet some friends.

Office for the day. LOL

Cheers,
